Westlake kicker Alex Ball missed a 41-yard field goal with one second left in last season’s Northern Division championship game against Oaks Christian. It hit the right upright. He was inches away from being a hero.

It took weeks to get over his disappointment, but he has been enjoying an excellent senior season. He has made seven field goals, including a 51-yarder last week. He has been booming kickoffs into the end zone. And he gets to face Oaks Christian again on Thursday night in a Marmonte League game.

He has been seeing a lot of action because the Warriors are averaging 51 points a game.

‘Scoring a lot of points means that I kick a lot,’ he said.
