Get your cameras ready. The Simi Valley baseball team, expected to be one of the best in Southern Section Division 1 this spring, is playing a seven-inning game on Friday at 3:30 p.m. with a Halloween twist.

Every player and coach is required to show up wearing a costume.

Will standout shortstop Cody Ramer show up as Spiderman? Will standout outfielder Nick Vigo be Superman? Will Coach Matt La Belle be Tommy Lasorda?

‘I can’t reveal that,’ La Belle said when asked what costume he’ll be wearing.

The snack bar will be open, and there will be a winner declared in the competition for best costume.

‘They can be whomever they want to be as long as it’s appropriate,’ La Belle said.

So for once, how hard someone can throw a fastball will be less important than how the pitcher looks on the mound.
