Baseball: Lucas Giolito projected as top pick

The amateur baseball draft is set for Jun 4-6, 2012, and pitcher Lucas Giolito of Studio City Harvard-Westlake is projected to be the No. 1 or No. 2 pick in the nation, according to Perfect Game. Pitcher Mark Appel of Stanford is his main competition.

The Houston Astros will have the first pick in the draft.

Giolito is set to sign a letter of intent with UCLA next month. That might be as close as he comes to becoming a Bruin.
