Facing a $5-million campus budget cut, Moorpark College’s athletic department has been told to eliminate three sports teams for next year, and baseball is on the list, Athletic Director Howard Davis said Thursday.

The proposal also includes eliminating men’s track and men’s cross country.

Baseball Coach Mario Porto said in an email, ‘I’m not very happy.’

The decision is not final, but the teams facing elimination will have to compete this coming season knowing they are on the chopping block.
