Football: Player gains eligibility on appeal

Asah Jefferson, who was a reserve tight end as a junior at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, has won his state appeal and gained eligibility for this season after transferring to Panorama City St. Genevieve for financial reasons.

This case was an example of what’s wrong with the transfer game. The Southern Section rejected a hardship waiver, forcing an appeal that was accepted. But why did it take an appeal for what appears to be a legitimate case of transferring for financial reasons?
