The City Section Division I football championship won’t be officially decided until December, but Long Beach Poly can win the unofficial title over the next two weeks, because the Jackrabbits play Carson on Friday and Narbonne next weekend.

At a minimum, we’ll get to compare how Carson and Narbonne perform against the Jackrabbits in preparation for their Oct. 21 Marine League showdown at Carson.

San Pedro, Venice and perhaps Crenshaw remain in the title mix, but on talent alone, Carson and Narbonne are the teams to beat.

While Carson’s schedule playing Mater Dei, Long Beach Poly, Mission Viejo and Santa Margarita is off the charts, Narbonne’s schedule is pretty good, with games against Palos Verdes, Poly, Tesoro and Gardena Serra.
