Football: Carson leads Mater Dei, 18-7

At halftime, Carson leads Santa Ana Mater Dei ,18-7. Colts receiver Darreus Rogers, a USC commit, has six catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns of 76 and 22 yards.

He has man-handled Mater Dei's secondary, catching passes in double and triple coverage and then shaking off tacklers for long gains.

Kevin McMahon, making his varsity debut for Carson, is 9-for-16 with 170 yards and those two touchdowns. Colts running back Roger Jones has 10 carries for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Mater Dei has been shut down by Carson's defense thus far. Its quarterback, Ryan McMahon, is 2-for-7 for 27 yards, 26 of which came on a touchdown pass to Thomas Duarte in the second quarter.
