Officials for El Camino Real and Canoga Park are expected to launch an investigation after a brawl erupted Friday night at the conclusion of El Camino Real’s 36-34 victory.

El Camino Real Coach Kevin Williams said one of his players, Chance Smith, was allegedly struck in the mouth after the game by a Canoga Park assistant coach. He said there are multiple witnesses and the incident will be reviewed via video.

Canoga Park Coach Ivan Moreno said, ‘I’d be very surprised if one of our coaches struck a player.’ Moreno said the school will investigate the allegation.

El Camino Real won the game with no time left on a 30-yard field goal by Ericson Penate after an earlier field-goal attempt was blocked and a penalty was called on Canoga Park. Coaches started arguing after the game, and then players joined in, Williams said.

‘The game was poorly managed by a horrible referee crew,’ Williams said.
