Football: Beware of the Lompoc Braves

Coming back from a 21-0 deficit to defeat Arroyo Grande, 38-28, the Lompoc Braves have shown they deserve respect.

This team went 1-9 until Andrew Jones, an ex-Lompoc player, took over as head coach last season and guided the Braves to a Southern Section championship.

They are loaded with talented juniors who were unbeaten as freshmen. They have a kicker who makes clutch field goals in Jose Morales. And junior running back Levon Coleman rushed for 176 yards in 36 carries, scored three touchdowns, had a 73-yard kickoff return and made an interception.
