Woodland Hills Taft guards Steven Jones and Kris Yanku will be very tough to deal with this basketball season. Jones is creative and quick, and Yanku, a junior, is a defensive stopper.

They played Sunday morning in the Taft showcase against Corona Roosevelt, which was leading, 69-65, with just over two minutes left when the game was halted because of three technicals called against Taft.

Roosevelt looked very solid behind 6-foot-5 Jalen Young and 6-4 Kendall Brown.

Sophomore Shaqquan Aaron made some good passes for Taft and has tons of potential, but he’s still trying to fit in after transferring from Santa Ana Mater Dei.

It’s clear the Toreadors, Fairfax and Palisades are the teams to beat in the City Section.
