It turns out that the 2005 City Section championship baseball game at Dodger Stadium between Woodland Hills El Camino Real and Chatsworth was a preview of future major leaguers.

Three players have made the major leagues out of that game, with the latest Chatsworth’s Matt Dominguez making his debut on Tuesday for the Florida Marlins. Also in the majors are Chatsworth’s Mike Moustakas (Kansas City Royals) and El Camino Real’s Ryan Lavarnway (Boston Red Sox).

In the minors working their way up are El Camino Real’s Eric Pettis, Dominic D’Anna and Garett Claypool, plus Chatsworth’s Josh Raven.

El Camino Real won the game, 5-1, behind a two-hitter from Pettis.

‘It tells you the talent of the players on those two teams,’ Chatsworth Coach Tom Meusborn said. ‘That’s a pretty special group.’
