Nike Extravaganza matchups are set

Santa Ana Mater Dei has finalized plans for its 2012 Nike Extravaganza Feb. 3-4. Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, led by Shabazz Muhammad, will be playing in the event, but Bishop Gorman won’t be taking on Mater Dei.
The two schools are playing in a tournament in Florida and could meet there. Mater Dei Coach Gary McKnight feels his team’s schedule is already loaded with tough opponents.
The girls’ portion of the event will match two outstanding local teams in Mater Dei and Los Angeles Windward playing on Feb. 3 at 9 p.m.
The Feb. 4 schedule involves all boys’ teams: Colony vs. JSerra, 8:30 a.m.; Upland vs. Los Alamitos, 10 a.m.; Ocean View vs. Mission Viejo, 11:30 a.m.; Fairfax vs. Eisenhower, 1 p.m.; Westchester vs. Capistrano Valley, 3 p.m.; Taft vs. Loyola, 4:30 p.m.; Long Beach Poly vs. Orange Lutheran, 6 p.m.; Mater Dei vs. San Diego Lincoln, 7:30 p.m.; Bishop Gorman vs. Chicago Whitney Young, 9 p.m.
The Feb. 3 schedule: Fairmont vs. La Quinta (boys), 3 p.m.; Rialto vs. Rosary (girls), 4:30 p.m.; Orange Lutheran vs. Oaks Christian (girls), 6 p.m.; Mater Dei vs. St. John Bosco (boys), 7:30 p.m.; Mater Dei vs. Windward (girls), 9 p.m.
