Incoming Alemany freshman Nia Britt sets national shot put record--twice

Nia Britt, who will soon start her freshman year at Alemany, set a national Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympics record Friday in New Orleans.

But she wasn't done. She then broke her own record.

The fun started when Britt put the shot 50 feet 5 inches on her third attempt, breaking the national record of 49-8.25 set by Kamorean Hayes of Charlotte, N.C., in 2003.

Britt then established another record on her fitth attempt, with a toss of 51-6.25. She became the first pre-high school girl from California to crack 50 feet, and she did it twice in the same day.
