Sacks are like hitting a home run for a defensive lineman. With passing the ball becoming more and more popular, the opportunity for a sack grows. And players are taking advantage.

Ellis McCarthy of Monrovia is a 6-4, 305-pound senior who sets the standard for being a dominant defensive lineman.

Justin Solis of Westlake is committed to Colorado. Kyle DeVaughn of Alemany is the returning defensive MVP from the Serra League. Milo Jordan of Corona Centennial is committed to Arizona State. Jherremya Leuta-Douyere is committed to Brigham Young.

There are lots of quick, relentless defensive ends, such as Jeremy Castro of Vista Murrieta, Teddy Queen of Temecula Chaparral, Kyle Kelley of Irvine Woodbridge and Justin Meaders of West Covina.
