Football: Gardena Serra names its starting QB

Gardena Serra has named sophomore Jalen Greene as its starting quarterback. He led the freshman team last season.

Serra faced Anaheim Servite in a scrimmage on Tuesday, and Coach Scott Altenberg said his team hung with the Friars.

Servite Coach Troy Thomas said, ‘They’ve got some big dudes.’

Serra is scheduled to open its season at home next Friday against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.

‘We’re going to be good,’ Altenberg said. ‘I just hope it’s sooner than later.’
