It was a rewarding day for Mater Dei’s Shaqquan Aaron on Saturday during the Adidas Nations tournament at the Hangar Athletic Club in Harbor City.

The 6-foot-7 junior swingman had 15 points, six rebounds and two assists during Team USA 2013 Red’s 92-84 victory over Team Asia. Then Aaron helped his team upset Team USA 2012 Red, 75-71, later in the day with two points, one rebound and one assist. Team USA 2013 Red leads its pool with a 3-0 record.

Orange Lutheran guard Gabe York continued to put on some prolific displays, scoring 24 points during Team USA 2012 Red’s loss to its counterparts from 2013. York also had 22 points during his team’s 75-58 victory over Team Africa. Mater Dei’s Xavier Johnson added eight points and four rebounds in that game for Team USA 2012 Red.

Crenshaw junior Isaac Hamilton had 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists for Team USA 2013 Blue, which nearly upset its 2012 counterpart before losing, 104-98. Earlier in the day, Hamilton had 14 points, five rebounds and one assist for his team during a 95-82 victory over Europe.

Team USA 2012 Blue has played without Shabazz Muhammad, the consensus No. 1 player in the country and UCLA’s top target. Muhammad has been sidelined by a severely sprained ankle he suffered during the Adidas Super 64 tournament late last month in Las Vegas.
