Boys’ basketball: Gabe York leads USA to opening victory at Adidas Nations

Orange Lutheran senior guard Gabe York scored 29 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead USA 2012 Red to a 98-63 victory over Australia 2012 on Friday at the Hangar Athletic Club in Harbor City in the opening pool-play game of the Adidas Nations tournament.

Mater Dei senior forward Xavier Johnson had nine points and two rebounds for USA. Big man William ‘Shaq’ Goodwin, who is being heavily recruited by UCLA, added eight points and five rebounds. The team was coached by former Clippers General Manager and Coach Mike Dunleavy as well as Satch Sullinger, the father of Ohio State standout Jared Sullinger.

Mater Dei junior swingman Shaqquan Aaron scored four points during USA 2013 Red’s 84-79 victory over Asia 2012. Crenshaw junior guard Isaac Hamilton had nine points and two rebounds during USA 2013 Blue’s 86-72 victory over Latin America.
