Boys’ basketball: And the wooing begins

Earlier this week, Bellflower St. John Bosco Athletic Director Monty McDermott and new boys’ basketball Coach Derrick Taylor had lunch with Southern Section assistant commissioner Rainer Wulf, who’s in charge of basketball.

McDermott said he initiated the meeting to introduce Taylor to Wulf.

Let me predict that Wulf will get to know Taylor very well, just like Barbara Fiege of the City Section got to know Taylor at Woodland Hills Taft.

St. John Bosco will soon seek eligibility for the Hamilton brothers, who transferred from Crenshaw.

Taylor is a terrific coach who attracts transfer students. The City Section had plenty of battles with him, and the Southern Section figures to be quite busy too.
