Baseball: Two Southern Californians make USA Baseball's 16-under national team

Harvard-Westlake infielder-catcher Arden Pabst and Cypress catcher Tyler Alamo were among the 20 players selected to USA Baseball's 16-under national team after a series of exhibitions in Cary, N.C.

The team will travel to Lagos de Moreno, Mexico, to compete in the IBAF World AA/16U Youth Championships Friday through Aug. 28. First, it will play in exhibition games Monday through Wednesday before taking on Australia in the IBAF Worlds at 5 p.m. PDT on Friday.

California leads all states with seven players selected, followed by five for Florida and two for Tennessee.
