Amir Lugo-Rodriguez, a 6-foot-7 senior volleyball-basketball player at Van Nuys Montclair Prep, has enrolled at Los Angeles Salesian.

Athletes are beginning the process of leaving Montclair Prep after the school announced on Monday that it would be eliminating its sports program. The school also has mailed transcripts to students, which should help students find new schools quicker.

In baseball, junior pitcher Nick Zuniga is considering Alemany and junior third baseman Myles Hager could end up at Chaminade. Standout pitcher Max Fried hasn’t said what school he is considering, though Harvard-Westlake is the early favorite.

Also, more than one school has inquired about leasing Montclair Prep’s vacant baseball field in the Franklin Field complex, with Encino Crespi at the top of the list.
