Boys' basketball: Jason Hart looks forward to challenge at Taft
Jason Hart, 33, played 10 years in the NBA, so he knows something about playing basketball at a high level. The question is what kind of a coach he will be after taking over as head coach at one of the City Section's most successful programs, Woodland Hills Taft.
"I have a passion for coaching," he said Monday after returning from Las Vegas where he was coaching a travel team.
Hart, hired to replace former Taft player and coach Derrick Taylor, lives in Granada Hills and has been coaching on the AAU circuit. He said he put his name in the mix for the Taft job and was given the chance.
"This is an opportunity for me to continue to grow as a coach," he said.
He played for some top coaches at Inglewood, Westchester, Syracuse and in the NBA. Now he'll get to show what he has learned.
