In the VIBL East-West all-star game on Saturday, Ricky Torres of Newhall Hart threw two shutout innings to start the game for the West, and he set the example as West pitchers blanked the East, 3-0.

El Camino Real’s Chris Nicholson and Mason Novak each had RBIs.

Torres has been impressive this summer and seems ready to take on the role of ace for a Hart team that has produced plenty of top pitchers in recent years.

Also throwing scoreless innings for the West were Nick Zuniga of Van Nuys Montclair Prep, Jacob Green of Simi Valley Royal, Harley Faye of Reseda Cleveland and Richie Alfonso of La Canada St. Francis.

In the other all-star game, the North defeated the South, 5-4. Chris Garia from Burbank Burroughs had a triple and two RBIs.
