Baseball: Loyola advances in South Bay playoffs

Corey Dempster had three hits and Kevin Carswell gave up two runs in five innings to help Los Angles Loyola defeat Palos Verdes, 9-5, in a first-round game of the South Bay Baseball Summer League playoffs.

Ian McLoughlin had a two-run double in Mira Costa’s 6-4 win over South Torrance. North Torrance defeated Harbor, 17-7. San Pedro defeated Culver City, 4-3.
