Track and field: Long Beach Poly’s Melia Cox is upset in girls’ 100-meter hurdles

Long Beach Poly sprinter Melia Cox, who ran the girls’ 100-meter hurdles in a nation-leading 13.34 seconds earlier this year, was upset in the event Saturday at the state track meet at Clovis Buchanan High.

Trinity Wilson of Albany St. Mary’s edged Cox, winning in 13.41 to Cox’s 13.57. Mt. Pleasant’s Shanique Walker was third in 14.17.
