Football: Morningside tries to make improvement
Former Los Angeles Jordan Coach Sheron Butler is trying to boost the fortunes of Inglewood Morningside, which played in the L.A. Watts Summer Games passing tournament last weekend.
Quarterback Greg Adams, receiver Chad Conner and defensive back Ryan Whitley were the Monarchs' top players. They were beaten by Westchester, which made it to the finals.

I have seen his team play and the most important thing was to see the players buying into him. If the kids believe then anything is possible. Good luck to Butler and his staff.

The Monarchs had a really strong showing at the L.A. Watts summer game. They had the number 1 seed before getting knocked off by defending champions L.A. Jordan. And they again proved that they were a real force at the USC tournament. Making it to the Semi's again before losing to Westchester. I was proud to see parents and fans come to support the Morningside Monarchs. It would be special if they can turn it around in a year, but they are still coming together as a team. You can see it at different points in the game. Good luck Monarchs. And Butler you stay positive and keep pushing forward. The city of Inglewood is behind you.
