Los Angeles Fairfax won’t be playing any football games this coming season at home, because the Lions will begin construction later this month on a $9.8 athletic field complex that will include an all-weather football field, a Tartan track, new bleachers that will seat 2,800 and a new press box.

A ground-breaking ceremony is scheduled for June 17. The school raised funds privately and also received grant money and district funds, according to assistant principal Dave Siedelman.

Fairfax is expected to play its home games this fall on Belmont’s new all-weather field that’s scheduled to open in September.
