Pool D: Golden Valley, Royal, Notre Dame, Palmdale. Pool E: Hart, Oaks Christian, Pioneer Valley, Crescenta Valley. Pool F: West Ranch, Chaminade, Thousand Oaks, Eastside.

Oaks Christian plays Hart at 2 p.m. Valencia faces Westlake at 6 p.m. Notre Dame plays Palmdale at 6 p.m. Those look like the best opening games. Teams play three games on Friday.

Poly, coming off a championship in the Dana Hills tournament, should be the favorite, with Oaks Christian and Westlake right behind. Notre Dame is a team that could be a surprise. Loyola’s Kodi Whitfield injured his ankle Wednesday, and it’s uncertain whether he’ll be playing.
