CIF commissioners discuss Open Division in basketball

The CIF section commissioners met last week and held a discussion about the creation of an Open Division for the state basketball playoffs, City Section Commissioner Barbara Fiege said.

The additional division still must be approved by the sections and wouldn’t take effect until the 2012-13 season.

Currently, there are state championships for Divisions I, II, III, IV and V.
