Boys’ basketball: Mater Dei tourney starts Friday

The summer basketball season kicks into gear this weekend with the 37-team Santa Ana Mater Dei tournament.
They will be playing games on three courts at Mater Dei. Long Beach Poly, Fairfax, Compton, Orange Lutheran, Encino Crespi, Upland, Glendora, Corona Centennial and St. Bernard are among the teams participating.
Action begins at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.
