There are City Section basketball coaches voicing concern at the stockpiling of talent going on at Los Angeles Fairfax, where the Lions are on the verge of landing their fifth promising transfer student in a year.

Pierson Ro, a 6-foot-6 freshman at LACES, has told his coach he will be transferring to Fairfax for his sophomore year. Ro ended up starting for LACES at the end of last season. He has attended the school since seventh grade but lives in the Fairfax attendance boundaries.

Taj Adams, a senior-to-be and the top scorer at Los Angeles West Adams, arrived at Fairfax in the spring semester. The Lions last season picked up Landon Drew from Woodland Hills Taft, Brendyn Taylor from Los Angeles View Park Prep and Chaunce Hill from Los Angeles Windward.

‘It’s their prerogative if they move into the area,’ Fairfax Coach Harvey Kitani said of the transfers.

Taylor has since been declared ineligible. The transfers are certain to make the Lions one of the top teams in the City Section next season.
