Baseball: Ty Moore gets five RBIs in North Carolina

June 23, 2011 | 11:15 am

The Tournament of Stars competition has begun in North Carolina, with players trying to make the U.S. 18U national team, and Ty Moore of Santa Ana Mater Dei made an immediate first impression on Monday, going three for four with five RBIs for his Babe Ruth team.

Another Mater Dei player, Jeremy Martinez, had two hits for his team. Pitchers Max Fried (Montclair Prep) and Hunter Virant (Camarillo) each threw a scoreless inning of relief for their team.
