The mostly Orange County contingent representing the South will face the mostly Los Angeles County contingent representing the West in the championship game of the Southwest Future All-Star Series Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Urban Youth Academy in Compton.

The South team includes top underclassmen from Santa Ana Mater Dei, Irvine Beckman, Lake Forest El Toro and Anheim Esperanza. The West team has top players from Gardena Serra, La Puente Bishop Amat, Mission Hills Alemany, along with Riverside Poly, Claremont and Valencia. The West also has a couple of ringers from Orange County in Edison’s Timmy Lopes and Servite’s Darrell Miller.

They’re using wood bats, so that’s good news for the pitchers. It will be a nine-inning final.
