Baseball: City-Southern Section all-star game is Saturday

A City-Southern Section all-star baseball game is set for Saturday at 6 p.m. at Birmingham High, with the Louisville Slugger home-run derby starting at 4 p.m.

Coaching the City squad are Scott Osder of Woodland Hills Taft and Bob Ramirez of San Pedro. Coaching the Southern Section are Zach Miller of Westlake Village Westlake and Randy Thompson of Mission Hills Alemany.

Among the confirmed players in the game are pitchers David Lira and Jose Reyes from City Section Division I champion San Fernando and Valencia standouts Shane Zeile and Quincy Quintero.

Victory Custom Athletic is helping to sponsor the game.
