San Fernando, taking advantage of Chatsworth pitching woes, scored five runs in the top of the third inning to open an 8-2 lead.

Chatsworth Coach Tom Meusborn pulled starting pitcher Angel Rodriguez in the top of the third inning after he hit leadoff hitter David Garcia and replaced him with center fielder Aaron Brown. Brown proceeded to walk the next two hitters, loading the bases with none out.

Jose Reyes followed with an RBI single. After another walk by Brown pushed across a run, Meusborn pulled Brown and brought in Christian Lopez to deal with the situation of bases loaded, none out and down, 5-2. Lopez threw the ball away on a pickoff attempt, allowing two runs to score. Then James An got a sacrifice fly to drive in the eighth run of the game for the Tigers.
