Laurie Henigan of Woodland Hills Taft led by 10 meters on the backstretch but lost her stride with two barriers left and stumbled over the last barrier, finishing fourth in 46.73 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles at the City Championships in Lake Balboa.

Henigan won the 100 hurdles earlier in the day and was the top qualifier in the 300 hurdles, but the fourth-place finish means she will not advance to the state meet. Dayna Hurd of Carson won in 44.84 seconds and defending champion Kendall Gustafson was second in 44.99.

Saul Sanchez of Granada Hills won the boys’ race in 39.84, edging Justin Bowie of Eagle Rock (39.92) and Chad McDaniel of Birmingham (40.06).
