Los Angeles Dorsey should be one of the contenders to win a City Section boys’ track and field championship after performing well on Thursday at the Coliseum League finals at Crenshaw.

Among the Dons’ highlights was the 400-meter relay team of Jaydon Mickens, Greg Veals, Marvin Hall and Rashard Clark winning in 42.35. Clark ran a career-best 48.35 to edge Beals, who ran 48.36, in the 400.

Dorsey’s Ross Stribbling won the high jump, clearing 6-4.

Locke’s Devante O’Connor took the 100 in 11.02.

There was no sign of Crenshaw’s De’Anthony Thomas, the defending City champion in the 100 and 200. He didn’t run for the Cougars’ 400 relay team. Coach Steve Lang said Thomas has been focusing on academics this spring. He may run for the relay team at next week’s City prelims.
