Palisades won the girls’ championship and Reseda Cleveland took the boys’ title at the City Section swimming championships on Friday night. It was the sixth consecutive year Cleveland has won the boys’ title, and the Cavaliers didn’t win a single event.

Hannah Kogan of Palisades who almost was not allowed to swim because of a dispute over a club meet she participated in won the 100 freestyle and helped her team capture the 400 freestyle relay.

In the 50 freestyle, Christian Diehm of San Pedro and J.J. Amis of Palisades were declared co-champions after touching the wall with identical times of 23.19. Amis came back to win the 100 freestyle over Diehm in 48.89.

Cleveland finished second in the girls’ competition, with Granada Hills third. Granada Hills was second in the boys’ race, with Birmingham third.

Correction: An earlier version of this blog had the incorrect winner of the boys’ 50 freestyle.
