Not only was Joe a coach and Asst AD, but he also represented the league as its rep and was on other high coaching associations. It's tough to lose a guy that has given so much to a program in this fashion. Who has heard of no budget. I wonder if other sports got a budget.

Disappointed

Eric, I understand that you only report what you are giving, but this is not just a two liner. This man dedicated 5 years of his life to the sport that lights up your blog. Out of respect, please give him his due. Speak on what he has done for the city by serving as president. Speak on his the way he stood up for what he believed in and took a stand to only get pushed out. You are a hell of a writer Eric, so please look deeper in this one. Maybe you can make a difference in the City Section, because great coaches are becoming a myth here and the young ones are either going to the Southern Section or their growth is being stop short, because of the ignorance of the city section. Knox(Dorsey), Garette(Crenshaw), Wilson(H.P.) to name a few are coming to the end of their careers..... whose going to replace these great coaches.

How sad for the children of that school. The lack of leadership and the lack of concern the principal has shown for the children is just heartbreaking. It is such a huge loss to the students losing a Coach that cared so much, and gave his all with no support or even a budget.

How long will the parents of this community settle for so little ? You have lost a Coach who cared for your children, the few teachers who really care will be next. When will the parents of this school speak up in behalf of their kids. The Coach will no longer be doing so. Wishing you the very best Coach Kearney, and May God Bless You!!

That's too bad! Coach Kearney has given so much of his time to Santee Football. I do not understand how a school doesn't have a football budget! One would think that the principal would want the school to have all available funds for the schools sports programs. Obviously, Santees principal does not care! Look at Crenshaw, Dorsey and the other HS football programs that are Thriving each year, they ALL have a football budget! I wish Coach Kearney the best of luck!

disappointed parent

I'm surprised it took him this long! He has been extremely dedicated to Santee since he got there, going above and beyond the call of duty. There is No School or Parental Support. The school doesn't even have a football budget and that is RIDICULOUS!! He was payn out of his own pocket to keep the program going! I, too, hope he finds a program that will appreciate all that he has to offer!

Hey Zeus

this is a shame - Santee was gradually building a solid program with an influx of good football talent - I hope someone is able to step up and continue helming this promising team

I'm not surprised by the move Joe made. He is a very dedicated person and gives his all to the kids and expects others to do the same. I don't know that he was getting the same support and it was time for a break or to move on. Another guy who just wants to help and assist kids in bettering themselves not only on the field but in the classroom is gone. I just don't understand it but in a way I do. Good luck Joe hope you find the place that will make you happy.
