Baseball: Tough matchups in Division 4

What a great semifinal in Southern Section Division 4. La Puente Bishop Amat and Torrance play Tuesday night at USC. Palm Desert and Westlake Village Oaks Christian play Tuesday afternoon at College of the Desert.

Bishop Amat has revenge on its mind. It was Torrance that defeated the Lancers in the championship game of the Redondo tournament. Infielder Trent Gilbert of Torrance has put together back-to-back terrific seasons. He has 51 hits in his senior year. Last season, he had 58 hits and 45 RBIs. He has signed with Arizona.

Palm Desert gets home-field advantage, but Oaks Christian has Travis Radke on the mound, and his curveball can be very effective.

The winners advance to the championship game Thursday at Dodger Stadium. All four teams are worthy of making it.
