Baseball: Three-way tie for first place in Marine League

With one game to play, the Marine League has a three-way tie for first place after Hector Avila of Harbor City Narbonne threw a one-hitter to help the Gauchos beat Wilmington Banning, 9-0.

Narbonne (21-8, 7-2), Banning (19-10, 7-2) and San Pedro (21-7, 7-2) end the regular season on Friday. Narbonne plays Banning at the Urban Youth Academy. San Pedro plays Carson.

Avila lost his no-hitter with two outs in the seventh when Christopher Johnson hit a double. Chris Ortega had a two-run home run for Narbonne. San Pedro defeated Carson in five innings, 14-1.
