Good luck to the City Section seeding committee next week when it tries to figure out what to do with Woodland Hills Taft, which is the only team in the City to have beaten Chatsworth and El Camino Real this season but is part of a three-way tie for third place in the West Valley League.

Taft (15-11, 4-5) routed El Camino Real, 12-0, on Wednesday, knocking out the reigning City player of the year, Jose Cardona, in the third inning. Zach Friedman threw a three-hitter and went three for three. Alex Sawleson had three hits. Jerry Barrajas had three RBIs. And the Toreadors committed zero erros.

Chatsworth clinched the West Valley championship with a 6-2 win over Birmingham. Angel Rodriguez struck out seven with a complete game. Steven Karkenny and Raul Camas each had RBI doubles.

Granada Hills defeated Cleveland, 6-5. Kurt Mateko hit a home run for the Highlanders. Cleveland, Taft and Birmingham are all tied for third place. El Camino Real is one game ahead in second place.
