Baseball: El Toro wins South Coast League title
The combination of Garrett Mundell and Ryan Joyce helped Lake Forest El Toro defeat Tesoro, 4-1, on Thursday to finish as South Coast League champions.
Mundell improved to 9-0 on the mound, allowing four hits while striking out two. Joyce hit a three-run home run.
El Toro improved to 24-7 overall and 9-3 in league.
In the Trinity League, Santa Ana Mater Dei wrapped up a league title with an 8-3 victory over Santa Margarita. Blake Thomsen hit a two-run home run and Jeremy Martinez had three RBIs. The defending Division 1 champions are 21-5 overall and were 13-2 in league. JSerra finished one-game behind after a 5-3 win over St. John Bosco. Tyler Krause hit a three-run walk-off home run.
In the Baseline League, Los Osos won its ninth consecutive game with a 10-5 win over Rancho Cucamonga. Spencer Thornton went three for three.
In the Coliseum League, Crenshaw rallied for a 6-5 win over Fremont.
In the Tri-Valley League, Travis Radke (9-1) faced 21 batters and led the league-champion Lions to a 6-0 victory over Ventura St. Bonaventure. He struck out eight and walked none.
In a nonleague game, Sylmar defeated Simi Valley, 6-5.
