Baseball: David Lira throws shutout for Tigers

Tuning up for a Valley Mission League showdown with Granada Hills Kennedy next week, All-City pitcher David Lira struck out nine and allowed three hits in San Fernando’s 1-0 nonleague victory over L.A. Marshall. San Fernando is 21-5 overall and plays Kennedy next Wednesday and Friday.

Tesoro won for the 12th time in its last 14 games with a 9-4 win over Anaheim Canyon. Kris Paulino had three hits, including his fifth home run of the season. Kevin Co also had a home run and two doubles.

In the Mission League, Encino Crespi defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 5-3.
