Baseball: Damon Akins put up impressive statistics
Damon Akins, a senior infielder at Los Angeles West Adams, put up some amazing statistics this season. He stole 60 bases and batted .645 (40 of 62), according to Coach Liem Hinhn.
Now the Coliseum League isn't exactly known as one of the best in the City Section, but those kind of statistics certainly have to create intrigue among college and professional scouts.

Thanks for this post about Akins. Good stats! It will be interesting to see what kind of offers he may get.

How many times did he walk. I'm sure he led off. Batting .600 in that league is not an impossible feat.

Looks like West Adams caught the "PARENTITOUS" virus that has been going around in the Coliseum League Baseball programs( Crenshaw). 60 for 60 in 52 including ONLY one R.O.E. and a .645 batting average. Time to call the paramedics, there's another parent coach on the loose with the Maxpreps code posting stats. Someone needs to call Maxpreps and put these daddy ball coaches in check and get them the help and support they require. G, didn't that virus start over at Centennial the year C.S. got drafted in the 5th round out of nowhere, with his whopping .700+ batting average. He hit .91 in 60 at bats in rookie ball the following year and was released. At least Damon has Nick who can show him the ropes on how to work FACEBOOK in his favor to build lasting ORGANIZATION relationships that help with the transition to the upper levels of Pro baseball.

Impressive stats. Amazing to be 60/60 for stolen bases when he reached base 52 times. 8 times were doubles where he could only steal third and home and 5 times were triples or home run.
