Baseball: Camarillo clinches Pacific View League title

Michael Martinez delivered a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Camarillo a 3-2 victory over Oxnard, clinching the Pacific View League championship for the Scorpions (19-4-1, 11-0).

Hunter Virant, a junior who’s committed to UCLA, put on an impressive show of athleticism. He pitched six innings, allowing four hits and two runs. He had two doubles, a single, stole second and made a running catch in center field in the eighth. Jayson Balades, a Pepperdine commit, allowed two runs in six innings for Oxnard.

In the Pacific League, Crescenta Valley defeated Pasadena, 4-3, in 10 innings. Cam Silva drove in the winning run. Arcadia defeated Burbank, 3-0.

Sunset League champion Huntington Beach Edison defeated Los Alamitos, 1-0, on a one-hitter by Jon Torres.

In the South Coast League, El Toro defeated San Clemente, 2-1. Center fielder Ryan Joyce threw out a runner at the plate in the top of the seventh with two out to preserve the victory over Tyler Brashears, who improved to 10-1. It was El Toro’s 11th consecutive victory

In the Foothill League, Newhall Hart defeated West Ranch, 12-0. The Indians (18-6, 9-4) collected 18 hits. Steve Rosso went four for four and Alex Tenorio contributed three doubles. Valencia defeated Saugus, 16-13, with Brian Mundell hitting for the cyle and getting five RBIs.

In the Marmonte League, Moorpark defeated Simi Valley, 8-4. Spencer Dubois had three hits for Moorpark. Newbury Park defeated Agoura, 6-5. Westlake (17-7, 9-3) defeated Thousand Oaks, 5-1. Alex Daley threw a complete game. Royal defeated Calabasas, 12-8. Ryan Tinkham had two doubles.

In the Mission League, Harvard-Westlake (19-7, 8-2) defeated Loyola, 6-1. Jack Flaherty allowed four hits in five innings. Wes Peacock had three hits. David Hubinger hit a three-run home run in St. Francis’ 10-4 win over Alemany.

In the Alpha League, Max Fried struck out nine and Blake Steele hit a three-run home run to give Van Nuys Montclair Prep a 5-1 win over Lancaster Paraclete. In the Tri-Valley League, Travis Radke (8-1) struck out nine in five innings as Oaks Christian defeated Carpinteria, 14-0. Evan Ocello had three hits.

In the Trinity League, Santa Margarita defeated St. John Bosco, 1-0. JSerra defeated Orange Lutheran, 8-1, with Nico Darras and Austin Hedges contributing two RBIs each. Trevor Charpie allowed one run in 5 2/3 innings.

In the Channel League, Spencer Fraker and Kees t’Sas each hit two-run home runs in Santa Barbara’s 6-3 win over Ventura.

In the Camino Real League, L.A. Cathedral (21-4, 11-1) defeated Bosco Tech, 10-1. Jaime Figueroa had four hits. Gardena Serra defeated St. Bernard, 11-7. In the Southwestern League, Joe Ortuno had five RBIs as Vista Murrieta defeated Murrieta Valley, 11-7.
