Former Burbank infielder Lonnie Kauppila, a freshman at Stanford, went 15 for 20 last week to earn player of the week honors in the Pacific 10 Conference.

Against Washington State, he had a six-hit night on a Saturday, plus three hits on Friday and two on Sunday. Kauppila, the team’s starting second baseman, raised his batting average from .196 to .364.

Stanford travels to USC this weekend.
