Baseball: Bonita ends Bishop Amat’s win streak

La Verne Bonita ended the 21-game win streak of La Puente Bishop Amat on Monday night with a 2-1 victory at Mount San Antonio College.

Brandon Murfett threw a five-hitter to beat the Lancers (21-3). Bonita improved to 18-3.

Wilmington Banning’s Erik Magdaleno had a no-hitter for 6 1/3 innings before settling for a one-hitter in the Pilots’ 6-0 win over St. Paul.

In the Valley Mission League, San Fernando defeated Sylmar, 8-1. Jose Reyes struck out nine and had a triple and two RBIs. Freddie Flores added two hits and two RBIs. Van Nuys defeated Reseda, 14-6. Israel Zuniga hit a home run and had four RBIs. Ricardo MacFarlene went three for three.

In the St. Paul tournament, Simi Valley defeated Encino Crespi, 13-2. Reece Schmidt had four RBIs. Earlier, Crespi defeated Merced, 3-1. Andy Frakes threw a four-hitter.

In the Northern League, sophomore George Alamillo retired the first 17 batters en route to throwing a one-hitter to lift L.A. Marshall past L.A. Wilson, 3-0. Marshall took over sole possession of first place.

Down, 7-0, in the bottom of the sixth inning, Agoura scored eight runs to defeat Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 8-7. Mark Seyler’s two-out single drove in two runs.
