It’s a little bit of a surprise, but a young Westlake Village Westlake team is 10-3 overall and has the lead in the Marmonte League with a 6-1 record.

Coach Zach Miller has been able to get his young players ready to perform well in pressure games. Freshman shortstop Luke Dykstra, junior catcher Collin Yelich and sophomore pitcher Zak Daniels have all made major contributions to the Warriors’ outstanding start.

Westlake gets another big test on Wednesday when it faces preseason league favorite Moorpark, which inflicted a 2-0 loss on the Warriors earlier this season.
