Baseball: West Ranch gets top performance from Ryan Keller

Valencia West Ranch handed its rival, Valencia, its second defeat in Foothill League play on Tuesday with a 2-0 victory in a makeup game. Ryan Keller struck out five in a complete game to earn his fifth win of the season.

JC Cloney and Josh Heinz contributed RBIs. Valencia dropped to 13-3 overall and 5-2 in league.

Palm Desert (16-4) defeated Corona del Mar, 9-8. Dave Schuknecht, Kaz Halcovich and Ryan Garvey each hit home runs. Garvey’s home run in the sixth gave Palm Desert its 9-8 lead.

No. 1 Huntington Beach Edison was beaten by Poway, 2-1, in San Diego.
