Baseball: Montclair Prep routs Campbell Hall, 12-2

It was supposed to be an Alpha League showdown, but Van Nuys Montclair Prep (11-5, 3-1) had no trouble toppling North Hollywood Campbell Hall, 12-2.

Max Fried struck out nine in six innings and also contributed five RBIs. Nick Suniga, Blake Steele, Josh Brodsky and Ben McKendall each had multiple hits. Adam Ehrlich had three hits for Campbell Hall (9-2, 3-1).

In the Mission League, Lucas Giolito threw a four-hitter, striking out four and walking one, as North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake defeated St. Francis, 10-0. Peter Van Gansen picked up his fifth save with a perfect seventh inning in Alemany’s 6-5 win over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. Cory Sims had three RBIs and Cody Sulflow hit a home run. Chaminade defeated Loyola, 3-0.

Garrett Mundell threw eight innings in El Toro’s 2-1 win over Villa Park, outdueling Wyatt Strahan. Mitchell Tolman doubled in Logan Roberts for the winning run. Mundell improved to 5-0.

Palm Desert defeated Xavier, 11-0. Scott Burcham went four for five with four RBIs. Ryan Garvey had a home run, double and three RBIs.

In the Camino Real League, L.A. Cathedral (16-2, 7-0) defeated Gardena Serra, 5-2. Joshua Ibarra had two doubles. Chris Flores had a triple. Cathedral won its 14th in a row.
